Meet the Conductor

In July 2014, we were sorry to say goodbye to our conductor, Tricia Rees-Jones who had done a great job of nurturing the orchestra from its infancy.
However, since then we have been very fortunate in finding Jessica Mahler, who picked up the baton in September 2014.

A little bit about Jess...
As a keen bassoonist at Skipton Music Centre and later Harrogate Music Centre, Jess Mahler started contributing to Skipton's rich musical heritage from a young age. She has also played for North Yorkshire County Orchestra and continued to pursue her musical interest by playing for two orchestras at Durham University, where she studied French and German. She was delighted to be asked to conduct Skipton Community Orchestra back in September and is honoured to be a part of such a thriving and dynamic orchestra. Conducting aside, Jess also sings in local choir Cantores Salicium based in Long Preston. She currently teaches languages at South Craven school.
